DO's at CHOP

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
yeah - there's one guy, I believe he's from AZCOM. He should be a PGY-2 this year. (There may be others, I just know of him. He's a friend of a friend.)

I am one of the D.O.'s in the residency, there is one other in the pgy-3 class.
What may I help you with?

There is a DO currently at CHOP. He graduated from AZCOM in 2003. I have proof of this. Here is a link to our match list. Click on the 2003 class. His name is listed next to CHOP on the list.

Hopefully, this will end any speculation that this was a rumor. As you can see, it is indeed a fact that a person from AZCOM matched at CHOP in 2003. I'm not trying to boast because it's not a big deal. It's just that certain individuals like to put down DO's and make it seem impossible for DO's to match at top programs. Click on the 2004 class and someone from AZCOM matched at Stanford in peds as well. So I think it is definitely possible for big names to accept DO's.

Might be a stupid question but why is there an MD and a DO column in the AZCOM matchlist? I'm still a premed.

There are 2 ways to match into residency as a DO. You can apply to DO programs or to MD programs. Or both, for that matter. If you get into an MD residency program, you're listed under the MD column on the website.

thanks for the replies

one more question

the CHOP website states that it requires usmle scores

are comlex scores acceptable alternatives as far as absolute requirements?

I took the usmle step 1, but i was considering not taking usmle step 2 since the schools aren't going to really see it anyway unless i take it early and for accreditation purposes, as a DO, i only really have to take comlex step 2...unless of course CHOP requires it

Bump 😀

I don't understand why this was bumped. There is at least 1 DO at CHOP doing his peds residency currently, end of story. Merry Christmas!!

The only reason I bumped this thread is because I wanted to know if USMLE scores were really necessary to apply to CHOP? 😕
