DO's in Canada?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Did I read the info from the link wrong, or will the Canadian family practice group only let a DO sit for the boards if he/she has completed an ACGME approved residency (not AOA)?

Yes, you read the information correctly.

Yes, Canada requires DOs to complete an ACGME-accredited residency if they hope to practice in Canada. However, a number of dually-accredited residency programs are available (both DO and MD) that have varying degrees of osteopathic influence and training with the backing of the ACGME. Most of these dually-accredited programs are in general practice, but some specialties also have some dually-accredited program. If you'd like a current list of programs who are DO/MD certified, I'm sure you can contact the AOA. Best of luck!
