Just wondering if anyone knew any nice DO's in WV, particularily the Morgantown area that wouldn't mind having someone shadow them? I have tried to contact a few and havn't gotten any call backs. It seems that the yellow pages don't list many DO's in my area, or else they arn't listed. I have already applied to WVSOM and of course they like to see some DO shadowing in the application.

I had no shadowing or hospital experience when I interviewed and WVSOM took me. So don't fret too much if you don't find something in time.

That being said, try the mentorship program here:

http://www.osteopathic.org/YOM/Mentor_exchange.htm

That's how I found someone to shadow.

I didn't think wvsom would be too strick, but I just wanted to be sure. That site is very helpful, thank you. As far as the hospitals go, I was actually told by the volunteer coordinator that they don't offer any shadowing opportunites if that is what I was looking for.

I had the exact problem as you do now. Maybe you can go to directly to the hospital and ask the DOs without going through coordinators. The DO that I got my LOR from told me I couldn't shadow him because of HIPPA but offered to write me one after a 15-minute "interview".

I just got in contact with someone through the mentoring program and she would like me to shadow her in the next few weeks. Thanks again for all the help.
