DO's practicing overseas?

A few weeks ago, I noticed someone make the comment that he/she didn't think that DO's were recognized to be able to practice medicine overseas.

One of the things I would like to do as a physician is medical work in third world countires.

Does anyone know for certain what the deal with DO's ability to practice overseas is?
