Would really appreciate advice in applying to DO friendly programs/ programs that accept COMLEX scores only? How can I go about finding which programs are friendly to DOs? Should I look to see if the PD is a DO? If most of their residents are DOs? How does one know?

IM hopeful!

also am actually taking step 2 in a couple of weeks and considering taking step 1 after that but my score wont be available for step 1 until 2 weeks after PDs are able to view applications, would it still be worth taking step 1?

I think you'll be okay without Step 1.

I would say, look at the residents to see if there are any DOs. Most of their residents do not have to be DOs. If they have at least 1 DO, you know that program doesn't not look at DOs.

A lot of programs have breakdowns on Freida, but they aren't always the most accurate. You can look at the resident rosters for individual programs but pay attention to credentials and school. There are plenty of instances where someone is listed as an MD and then you recognize they went to a DO school. More and more IM programs are starting to give step 2 more weight than before, but step 1 is still the favorite at a lot of places. It's difficult to say what kind of difference a step 1 would make after the cycle opens, especially this season.

What generally would be a required score on the COMLEX to safely match into a decent IM program with only COMLEX?
