Dosage instruction abbreviations

In addition to that what would it mean for instance if Vicodin came in Tab: 5/500mg. Or another example, Roxicet is a cap 5mg/325mg or 5/500mg. What do these fractions mean? thanks. I guess it's good they gave us this summer drug memorizing hw so we can go in with some knowledge of the terminology too.

Quantity Per Dispensing I think. It has something to do with how many units of the drug that an insurance company will let you have if you're under their prescription benefit policy. It's determined by how the drug is used, etc.
For example the QPD limit for Toprol XL 50mg is usually 30 (when you get your meds at a retail pharmacy), since people take it once a day. Any more than that would be more than a month supply and the insurance will likely not cover it.

Tylox is the brand name of the 5/500 capsules, not Roxicet --> 5mg of oxycodone, 500mg of acetaminophen for Tylox. 5mg of hydrocodone, 500 mg of acetaminophen for regular Vicodin.TrojanAnteater said:

You're saying this should be Tylox and not Roxicet?
Yes, the oxycodone/acetaminophen 5/500 capsules are Tylox
But I think they made a mistake in how they labeled things under the "dosage forms, Avail. Strengths" box for Roxicet.. There is a Roxicet 5/500 but in a caplet form.. And Roxicet 5/325 comes in a tablet form..

I assume you're going to attend USC in the fall. don't worry about the drug test. its really not worth that much. you won't find out when you will have the drug test until school starts. the class will be split up into 3 groups....each group start at 3 different time during the semester.TrojanAnteater said:
