Anyone keeping both? I'm like halfway through CE for BCPS and am considering BCOP in the coming years. Debating if I just want to stop spending the $$ now and let BCPS lapse, or deal with the extra cost and CE requirement to maintain both.

Thoughts from the peanut gallery?

Luckily the annual fee isn’t doubled, but CE is like $1800/7yr for BCOP (due to fewer providers) and $900/7yr for BCPS via the ASHP 3yr rolling program. There’s some overlap (max 42hrs), but the bulk of them are separate.

As for the current cycle, I’m about 2/3 done, I might just pay and buy myself another 7 years to think about it.

Since you are about 2/3 done with your CEs, just recertify BCPS

Most people with two certifications opt to let BCPS lapse due to not wanting to spend the extra money and especially, the extra time completing more CEs

Assuming 42 hours overlap, 100 CE hrs BCOP vs 178 CE hrs BCPS+BCOP

Depending on your specialty. if you practice in Oncology most of the time, i would just keep the BCOP. I have a question though. If you let the BCPS go inactive and let it expire, and later after 5-10 years, you want to make it active again, then would you just take the Re-certification part of the exam only or have to take the entire exam again ??
