Down jacket for interviews?

Would it be acceptable to wear a huge puffy down jacket when you take the campus tour, if it it REALLY cold outside? I don't have a formal-looking overcoat or anything like that, and don't want to buy a new one, plus, a down jacket is so much warmer than a coat =)

Did exactly what you're talking about. It's a nice down coat. I come from Chicago, I don't mess around with the cold. Any school that holds it against me is probably not a good fit 😉
 
Down coats are fine for a tour. they are also ok for interviews because schools located in cold areas usually will provide a closet or coat rack to put it in
