There may be another thread about this, but I am new and this is my first post so forgive me!

I will be a senior this fall and I am applying to DPT programs in the next couple of months for Fall 2015, and I am wondering what I should be doing right now just to make sure I am not missing anything. The application deadlines for the programs I strongly to prefer to get into are October 1st. I have:

- all pre-req's completed besides one for one school.
- taken the GRE once this past spring, taking it again in mid-August (154Q, 156V, 4.5AW first time)
- so-so GPAs (3.6 cum, 3.7 pre-req)
- roughly 25-30 observation hours (some out-, most in-patient. currently adding to this each week)
- decided upon who to ask for letters of rec. but undecided on a PT letter of rec.

I have yet to:

- ask selected people if they would write letters of rec. (highly probable they will for me)
- decide on a PT to write a letter of rec. for me
- send first time GRE scores to any prospective programs
- complete at least 40 observation hours (at least 20 in both in- and out-patient, currently in progress)
- anything to do with PTCAS (here is where I am most in the dark)
- write my personal essay in PTCAS
- take medical terminology class (mentioned before, taking it Sem. II 14-15)

I plan on applying to:

- University of Indianapolis (preferred) (due Oct. 1st)
- IUPUI (preferred) (due Oct. 1st)
- Cal State, Long Beach (due Nov. 1st)
- Fresno State (due Oct. 15th)
- University of South Carolina (due Nov. 1st)

As a side note, I recently just began a job with a home healthcare company where I am an in-home PT Aide/Homecare Aide for a special needs client and plan on continuing this position indefinitely.

Any input from anyone would be great! Thank you so much!

If none of those schools have rolling admissions, then it looks like you have plenty of time to get everything done! You definitely want to ask your letter writers and send those reference emails via PTCAS as soon as possible, just so they have plenty of time to write the letters. Also, you'll want time to find other writers if any of them say no.

I would also start working on your essay. I started mine two weeks ago and it's taking a lot longer than expected. I'm writing about 6 though, so maybe yours won't take so long.

Your GPA looks really competitive, so I wouldn't worry much about that. Your GRE doesn't look bad either.
