So I watched this show for the first time yesterday. I was impressed by Dr. Raj. He's a good doctor and is doing quite well. Obviously not every doctor lives like him. In addition I was impressed to find out Dr. Robert Ray went to Harvard. All in all it's a pretty good show, based on one episode. Would be better if they spent more time showing procedures, but alas it's a show. I'm interested on what you guys think.

Dr Raj seems sorta odd to me. It seems like he wants to actually hump his work after he performs a procedure. I do like the show overall though...trainwreck.

Correction. Dr. Rey didn't go to Harvard. He did a plastics fellowship there. Look up his personal website, it has his CV online.

Oh i see. on the show it said he went to harvard. I assumed it was for med school.

Thanks to Dr. 90210, I can perform my own breast reconstructions =D
As for Dr. Rey, that is pretty shady, but my oh my isn't he fun to look at.

Dr. Raj has an awesome garden. I think he should be a landscaper when he retires from surgery.

His trophy wife bothers me. She should stop complaining about him being busy all the time and maybe get a life of her own.

But yes, I do agree with the "trainwreck" comparison - it's just so hard to NOT watch it!

i'm a fan of the show. this is the kind of stuff that happens everyday and we get to watch it. it sures does beat watching **** like laguna beach.

agreed. if all my colleagues looked like that, i'd definitely go into plastics.

Damn - that was the first thought that came into my head when I saw this thread - well said.

So basically he went from thinking about health policy and public service work to inflating tits of rich women in Los Angeles, using his 1 year fellowship to claim Harvard-educated and rake in business.

Does anyone else find it strange when male physicians choose to specialize in breast reconstructive surgery? You can't get more superficial than that.

fast ticket into hollywood baby. some people got their priorities set differently. if you would look down on a business man who took a chance to succeed, then you can look down on him. not that i agree with his choices or anything.

Wife to Dr. Raj or Dr. Ray???

hmm i just realized if i ever wanted to do breast reconstruction i would only be certified after 2018?

he got MD 1990 and finished fellowship 1998.

just a thought... a scary thought. long graduate medical training man. at least he was dedicated.

neurosurgery would be that bad too.

so i'll be 37 when i can say. hey mom look at me, i'm full fledged now. i pray to God she'll be alive.

i know that age isn't THAT bad. considering the responsibility, respect and wisdom that comes from reaching certification status in such a specialized field. i'm hoping surgical oncology. but.... the hell do i know?

Sounds like this thread is about hating on an accomplished physician. So what if the guy only got a fellowship from Havard, he still got an education from them nonetheless and he can claim that as much as he wants, if it brings in business. The man puts in a good amount of time to do activities such as karate, working out and others. If he wants to cut the sleeve off his scrub, he is very much worthy of doing so. All in all, the man has accomplished a lot and he is very charismatic and thats why he got himself a tv show. Aspire to be like him if you want, but dont hate.

For real, the guy is a plastic surgeon with his own damn TV show. Who cares what medical school he went to.

Being currently at Mass. General where Dr. Ray did his "fellowship", I just wanted everyone on here to know that he's regarded pretty much the laughing stock of the Plastics department.

His "fellowship" consisted of nothing more than a few months of following a few of the surgeons around. In my mind, that DOES NOT give you the right to wear an HMS shirt. Hell, having been at HMS/Mass. General doing research for over a year, I have only bought a hoodie with a big H on the front, nothing flaunting Harvard or HMS. It is absolutely misleading that he's doing this on Dr. 90201.

Not really clear on how "accomplished" he is either based on his quick little CV. Plus, are you so willing to entrust your body to a man that
A) gets his scrubs tailored
B) essentially lies about where he went to med school
C) sucks

Ah Dr. Ray.... if we could only have an ounce of your "charisma" we could all make it in Beverly Hills! 🙄

i agree that it's shady that he doesn't just say that he went to tufts med. but no matter what he did during his fellowship, if hms was willing to have him on as a fellow, he has the right to flaunt the name.

one thing i'll give dr rey: he's a very smart businessman. tv show, playing up a prestigious name, making himself look physically attractive (cutoff scrubs and all 😛 ), probono boob jobs, rags to riches story, etc... I feel everything he shows on tv is pretty well calculated to draw more clients. hell, even having his wife complain about him never being around could be taken as him being a busy and desirable plastic surgeon.

i love dr. raj tho... if that man ain't p-i-m-p i dunno what is 🙄

OFF TOPIC

My favorite is Dr Sanjay who does those little healthcare spots "Paging Dr. Gupta"...

RAWR!!!!

😛

i have had discussions with my friends about the "muscle scrubs" as we have called them. this show is pretty funny! i will admit i watch it often.

Doctors from all medical schools and residency's are practicing in the USA. Come to think of it I have no idea where my family doc went to medical school etc.

someone mentioned he wasn't even board certified - just board eligible.

Confirmed: I just went to the American Board of Medical Specialties website and Dr Robert Rey is not listed as a board certified plastic surgeon.
