I was wondering if anyone has purchased this book and what they thought about it, bc I can't really afford to waste 40 bucks,

Thanks guys

Yo,

I did buy it a few months ago, but returned it for a refund (which took a few weeks of emailing back and forth). The book doesn't contain any new information that you can't find here on SDN. (Actually, you can find more up-to-date info regarding applying to D. school here and by PM'ing others!)

It just contains the basic things that you've probably already heard about (what to say during an interview, what you should include in a personal statement etc.)

thanks a lot for the info, you just saved me 40 bucks!

Yeah, it wasnt anything great. Most people already know the info in there. I bought it about a year ago...so unless its not a newer updated version, then there is no point in buying it...

Bingo! I looked at when I was applying a couple of years ago as a buddy decided to purchase it and I came to the same conclusions.

I took kaplan and got a 20/20/18 (aa/sci/pat). I plan on retaking the DAT and I wanted to get more resources besides kaplan. Is schaum's bio available at bookstores? Do you know of any other test prep books? thanks again

Dr.Karni's book is bull****... it contains basic info... don't buy that thing.

I have never felt like more of a sucker than the day I bought that no-good piece of crap book. The fact that he can even sell it is a crime.

When I bought it he claimed to have dental school rankings and all this info that was no where to be found.

A-hole.

Agreed. That guy wasted time of my life. Working for that $40 and the time it took to read it. I will never get those hours back.

It's a scam. If you are already on SDN, don't buy.

I second that, what a waste of money

I don't like Dr. Kanani. Totally waste of money

If you are new to the application process, and need a crash course ASAP then his book MAY prove helpful. If you are an SDN veteran, you know more than what is in Dr. Kanani's book. I also think SDN can be more helpful, because if you have a question you can get a variety of opinions instead of just what Dr. Kanani thinks.

Seriously, anyone see his website. Half of it is about him bragging about his 10 different degrees. What do any of those degrees have to do with dental applications? If anything, SDN people should get together with all our different experiences and publish our own guide to dental schools.

I agree! I was stupid enough to buy into the scam...He tells you how great it is to get u to buy it....but its a COMPLETE waste of time. As I read through it, there were no spectacular tips as he said there would be. He just writes about basic stuff you can find out from any other source.

I know, I wish I know this website early enough to not buy his book ... I lost $40 🙁 sigh ...
