This local guy got himself into hot water. I want more details on the case. Read the headlines on this page. It makes me angry that one of the headlines is about his nice house. They are just trying to instill jealousy and anger in the community.

Three of Stokes' former employees told federal investigators he commonly reused sutures, syringes, hypodermic needles, scalpels and gloves without properly sterilizing them.
**** me

The only reason that it doesnt bother me that they are bringing up his house is because HE WAS REUSING NEEDLES!!!

It is sort of relevant to show that lives in a 8 million dollar home but is too cheap to buy new needles. What a crazy bastard this guys is.

How did you know hes a DO- they didnt mention it did they? (I briefly skimmed the articles)

DO or not, if this is true he deserves to have everything taken from him. This is a disgrace to the entire medical community. A direct violation of both the hippocratic and osteopathic oathes. 😡+pissed+😕

What ever happened to innocent until proven guilty?

Former employees can say jack, let him have his day in court...

He does have quite a rap sheet though

And the article states he attended an osteo med school

I don't see why it is such a big deal. Yes, I find it terrible that someone would actually do this. But this sort of thing happens all the time, whether it is an MD or DO. In NYC there was a MD who was doing the same thing re-using old syringes, etc... Unfortunetly there are people who have DO or MD degrees and abuse the privledge of being a physician.

Yeah a long island doctor-im going to butcher the name-Dr. Finkelstien (sp) a gas doc. found to have reused needles on pts. 😱about the abuse though.

If this guy goes to jail, he will learn first-hand what its like to get poked with something that's already been used on other people without proper sterilization.

Very Funny TT.😆I am glad that you will be part of the DO profession.

Ummm I think everyone is missing the point here ... DOs CAN MATCH DERMATOLOGY!!!!

 Just kidding ... this guy is in hot water. And also sexyman, I didn't see the 'DO' anywhere in their either.

GRAND RAPIDS -- Something didn't look right in the video Dr. Robert W. Stokes submitted to defend himself against federal insurance fraud charges.

The Grand Rapids dermatologist hoped the tape of him performing surgery would clear him of charges that he billed for procedures he had not performed. But as Dr. William Gray, an expert witness for the U.S. attorney, watched the video, he noticed the sutures Stokes was using were unusually short.

He told federal investigators that might indicate Stokes was reusing sutures.

That observation last April by Gray, a friend of Stokes and his roommate at Michigan State University's College of Osteopathic Medicine, helped convict him of fraud and triggered an investigation that resulted in a public health alert Wednesday.

Kent County Health Department officials say more than 4,900 patients may have been exposed to hepatitis and HIV -- the virus that causes AIDS -- because of Stokes' habit of reusing sutures, hypodermic syringes and needles, scalpels and gloves.

Asked why it had taken the department more than seven months to issue the alert, Cathy Raevsky, the county's administrative health officer, said her agency's investigation was impeded by the ongoing federal fraud probe. Some of Stokes' former employees were advised by their attorneys not to talk."

If you look at one of he articles further on down the page it says they have a quote from a person who went to school with him from MSU COM in case you didn't see it.

You can also find him when you "Search for a DO" online. I forget the site, but you all know what i'm talking about.

if i hear about any of you guys doing this kind of stuff in the future i will personally come to your residence and have my friend's chihuahua poop on your lawn.

we hear about medical malpractice ALL THE TIME - we can't let people like this ruin the profession and spoil our integrity. do the right thing, every time. and don't smoke crack.

You know what, nevermind. This case is so pathetic it's not even worth discussing.
