My district manager is a PharmD. Should I refer to him as Mr. X or Dr. X?

I think a white lab coat would be better than a typical uniform because you at least have a degree of freedom with what you wear.I have no desire to be called Dr. _____. As a side note, I think white lab coats are lame and pharmacists should do away with them. Who's with me?

i love how i am saying how pharmacist get no respect and everyone agrees here, but when i say it everyone cries and runs for their mommies. listen my husband is a medical doctor , out of respect i call him dr, as does everyone. he asks me not to but i feel he earned it and its his title in our home. now i will get a pharmD that is not a medical degree and no one adreesses a pharmacist as a doctor in the retail or hospital setting. only in the academic setting is that approproate, because they are "professors' and even so its not necessary unless they have a phD. please dont insist on calling pharmacist doctors, because that just proves that we are insecure. we all know we have a pharmD thats good enough.

My favorite is when you tell someone you are going to school to be a pharmacist and they say "Oh yeah my _______ is one, but they didn't have to go to college, so I don't see why your going to college for it." I wish people knew that there is a difference between becoming a pharmacist and a pharmacy tech. That is not entirely true.
At most major university medical centers, the pharmacist is referred to as Dr. X. Duke University, UNC, Wake Forest Baptist, etc. Its not insecurity, its respect, mutual respect. And as long as we view ourselves as working under the physician and not alongside them ("he has a MD, i ONLY have a PharmD, i cant possibly be called doctor like him), the world will continue to think that we became pharmacist after going to community college, lol. Gimme a break.
