I'm going to sit down now and start studying for this last dreaded exam in the series.

Is there a link, that someone can bump or a thread that has all good books needed for step 3.

I'm assuming go with everyhting that has worked so far, that's the blueprints for gyn and peds, NMS for medicine, first aid for surgery, and brs for psych. Should I buy first aid for step 3? (I didn't think first aid for step 2 was worth it).

For questions, should I do usmle or qbank?

Here's a link to a thread that was going a short while ago about Step III. http://forums.studentdoctor.net/showthread.php?t=324095

You can use Q-Bank or USMLEWorld. USMLEWorld is fairly new and has been getting good reviews for Step III. The single most useful resource for Step III iis the CD that you get when you register for the test. Spend plenty of time llearning how to use the software and be sure to read the critiques of the Clinical Cases that are provided with this disk. Believe me, that software is not intuitive and every second that I spent with that disk was well spent.

I did not find anything cryptic or outside the realms of primary care. I don't know that you need to do Blueprints or any of those specialty books. I took Step III when I was a surgical PGY-1 and I used Q-Bank and the practice disk. I also scanned Crush Step III in an afternoon. Again, the most useful thing for me was those practice Clinical Cases that came on the disk that they send you.

It took me a couple of weekends of studying with a fellow intern and doing 40 to 50 questions a night three to four days a week over a month. I did some questions on my call nights and ran questions with my buddy on a couple Saturdays at Starbucks. It turns out that I studied enough.

Check out the thread above and don't over study for this exam. It is different from Step II so I believe that you would be better served to use a Step III book like Crush Step III instead of trying to hash through your Step II books.

Thanks for the link I appreciate it. I just wish I had taken step 3 right after I graduted. Reviewing gyn and peds is going to be a drain. So you didn't use NMS, has anybody used it? I used that for step 2. Guess I should start with the questions now.

I just used Qbank and first aid. My friend used crush step 3. we both passed

also, I agree that CD from the NBME is underutilized
