Hi folks,

As stated in the title, What is the usual dress code for the dinner with residents and/or faculty the night BEFORE the interview?

Is it meant to be a relaxed (shirt/tie? sweater? slacks?) dinner or are we supposed to show up in a tie and jacket?

Thanks for the help,
TRG

You definitely don't need a jacket and tie. Wear what you would wear if you were having dinner at a nice restaurant. Faculty usually don't attend. The residents are usually pretty relaxed and don't really care what you are wearing.

Depends on the program. Here we were specifically told to dress as if for an interview. Maybe its because the faculty attend but every pre-interview dinner I attended on the trail candidates dressed as if for interview (except one and negative comments were made about him by the residents). I'd call and ask the program coordinator what he/she suggests/what is typical.

Hope this helps.
