Im wondering how I should dress up for my interview at NYU that is coming up.

I have read a couple places that of all dental schools, NYU is more fashion savvy so would it be cool if I go with like a light blue shirt/darker blue tie or a lavender shirt/purple tie combo? Or should I just go white shirt/solid color tie?

Please let me know what you guys think is appropriate. This is my first interview.

Know your audience....just because the student body might be more "fashion savvy"....or not....the people conducting your interview will expect professional dress. The light blue shirt under a dark suit should be fine, lavender/purple, maybe. You don't need to go with a white shirt but certainly don't go in with some wild combos either.

I just had my interview yesterday. Everyone was wearing a basic suit (black or grey), and the guys wore ties with their dress shirts. I don't think the dental students cared how we were dressed, since they were in scrubs during the tour.

Thanks for the help guys!

@yolo1234 It was super relaxed. It didn't really feel like an interview, more just a conversation about why I want to be a dentist. One-on-one with a faculty member who was extremely nice. I really loved the interview experience there

Just bought my patterned light blue dress shirt and dark blue/black tie for my navy suit. I wouldn't call it stylish---just attractive!
