Has anyone heard anything yet? I am assuming that we should all be hearing from Drew soon because of the 60 - 100 files out for review that they should receive any day now from an undisclosed source. If I had to guess, those files may have been sent to UCLA for their approval before any more acceptances. I hope those files included waitlisted students also 🙄

hey 5279, I hope you are right about the files including waitlisted people as well. Keep us updated people!!!!

Ellerose, if you are still out there I was just wondering whether or not you were accepted off of the alternate list. Thanks.

ellerose, that is good news, as a person who would love to go to DREW I thank you, but I am curious, where did you decide to go after all? I hope that wherever it is, it makes you happy and best of luck to you!!!

5279: Don't know if I was on the waitlist or not. I never heard from Drew since my interview (which was in April). So I never got anything saying I was on a waitlist. I simply got an acceptance letter.

Dr. Don: I loved Drew and its mission statement too, but I fell for Mayo in the end.

5279 are you on the waitlist for UCLA and UCLA/Drew?

-Mr. D

A little information for you guys. My roommates X roommate from a year ago graduated from Drew and never got around to fowarding his mail. He get's more stuff than we do. But I recieved his Drew Coll of medicine newletter, so I thaught I would pass it on to you guys.

First off, you have a new dean who got an MD MBA from howard and Bu, respectively. Then there is a lot of boring profiles of people.2 MS II got awards or fellowships, 3 ms III's. Then 10 MS I's got the california endowment fellowships to pursue activities related to the Drew Mission.

The match results also came in. 22 grads from this year matched and 5 earlier grads. ( but surprisingly, only 25 matches were listed)
there was 3 Fam Pract, 3 Peds, 4 IM. That's it for primary care.(interesting, considering Drew's mission) 1 Anes, 2 Diag Rad, 2 ER, 1 ENT, 4 Psych, 2 surg, 3 OB/GYN. 16 of the matches are staying in south cali.

Ok, for some strang reason my hands are shking. That's the main points of the newletter.

Mr. D,

I am on the waitlists for both UCLA and UCLA/Drew.

hey peeps, how are we doing? has anyone heard anything? BUMP!!

i heard that there are still some files out for review that Dr. Miller will probably get to by the end of this week, according to the lady over the phone at the office......

It would seem that those files on Dr. Miller's desk have not had any response sent out yet. No Waitlist, no nada. My girlfriend's file is one of those on his desk. I must say, I was greatly comforted when I first read that there was more than one file on his desk, but now I'm not so sure.... =)
*shrug*
Perhaps someday we'll know something.

On another note, is it a bad thing that I hear gunshots outside my window now? gotta go!

hey all,

i am down here in cuzco and i haven?t been able to get on this forum for like a week . . .

anyhow, has anybody asked about if they take their orientation date into consideration. i figure if one really has a chance that they won?t make them miss orientation over some paper shuffling. if i get into drew, i personally don?t want to miss orientation, and the dang thing starts in two weeks. seeing how i have to fly back to alaska, and then drive my car to california, i need at least 5-6 days advanced notice. what a drag.

i am probably going to send an email to dr. miller over this . . . i?ll let you all know if something interesting comes up.

hey jdub, I envy you man, I wish I could be in cusco right now!!! anyways, a 2nd year MS at UCLA/DREW got in 3 days before school started...so I don't think DREW really cares if you missed the orientation and stuff. Personally, I think that sucks, but what can we do???

okay, check that, i am in lima right now. larco mar, to be exact and it cost 8 soles per hour instead of 2, to use the internet. they do have dsl or something like that here though, so it is faster.

anyhow, i can?t find dr. miller?s email or wanda hall?s on the internet, so i was wondering if any of guys could post them for me? thanks in advance.

btw, did any of you guys watch the world cup final? brazil 2, alemania 0. was a pretty good game to watch, i was a little disappointed that germany didn?t at least score.

hey man, here is Ms. Wanda's email: [email protected], please keep us posted as what you hear from them. Is the class is full? when will waitlist people know what their status is? thanks,

FYI- I received a call from Wanda Hall on June 24 to let me know that I had been accepted (interviewed in Mid March). I had already been accepted to another school (my 1st choice) so I withdrew my application. Good Luck everyone!

hey,

i sent an email to wanda hall over my desire to attend orientation if i was to be accepted. she responded by saying that dr. miller has not reviewed all of the files yet and that they will mail out answers when he is done. um, yeah, i hadn't figured that one out yet. nothing like a canned answer to make everything okay . . .

it isn't like they couldn't say, "sorry you have to wait so long, and we are sorry about your concern, but there is little we can do now, because all of the files haven't been reviewed . . .", or something to that extent.

there are so many little things admissions committees could do to make this process a little more bearable. anyhow, so much for new or intersting info. best luck all.

well I'm doing the post bac and my TA who is in the admissions committee at DREW just told me that the class is not full because people are dropping their acceptances to DREW or DREW is calling students, but those students have already gotten in somewhere else, so they choose not to accept the spot. And Dr. Miller himself is reviewing every application on the waitlist!!!!! individually to decide on who gets off the waitlist...so it's going to take a while....

nada nuevo aqui, y la orientacion empieza en tres dias. que pena! cuando empieza clase?

well, I talked to Dr. Miller today and asked him if his class was full and he said that it pretty much is. Pre-matriculation started yesterday and unless someone doesn't show up to the activites, then the waitlist will start moving. I don't really want to get my hopes up, so I'm already doing a post bac and looking forward to doing well on this upcoming MCAT, well if anybody else has any news, let us know, take care,
Don

The Drew-UCLA class is COMPLETE as of 7-16-02. I heard this directly from Dr. Miller. I hope that those who have been waiting for news will receive it soon.

I believe that alot of us expected this. Hey jedi, so how do you like the orientation? everything cool? Best of luck to you and hopefully I'll see you next year at DREW,
Don

Drew's Orientation began on July 14th, with lots of food and even more laughs during our kickball game with the 2nd year students. We have anatomy lectures everyday and get a quiz the next day. Though we have lecture material to review/study, we have lots of time to get to know each other -- either at the dorms or going to the beach or movies. Best of all, the second year students working with us are giving us all this free advice on books, housing, and classes weeks before classes start.

UPDATE
A student from the 2006 Drew class has deferred until next Fall. If you are next on the waitlist, you will hear from the admissions office sometime next week ... all UCLA & Drew/UCLA students must attend Foundations week, which starts August 5th.

uclamendoza, thought I'd better bump this for you and other folks interested in Drew before the search fx goes again.

Please note that this thread is from last year--so check out the date first if anything sounds out of place.

What's frustrating is that some apps offered acceptances withdraw almost the same day from Drew (when they've known for a long time that they're attending another school). It's too bad that they don't withdraw earlier, considering the time it takes Drew to review each app and send it back and forth to UCLA for approval.

thanks nefertari for bumping this very important thread. i appreciate it and hope that movement this time is faster than last year. stay positive and good luck.

Gosh! Please let it be faster than last year!!!!!!

Thanks for bumping the thread.
