Drexel Acceptances?

I interviewed at the beggining of April. jult24er, have you received the decision yet? Do all three decision types (acceptance, rejection, waitlist), arrive in the mail? TheAbbot77: why would you think that this is bad news?

I think all 3 do get mailed. I havent got my decion yet, they said it gets sent out today or tomorrow. 2 weeks between the decision and the post-mark seems about average, unfortunately ...
 
I have heard the same thing about the wait time for the decision. Drexel does seem to enjoy making it an extra painfully long wait. Hopefully its good news I really loved that school. It is kind of funny that a school so great with all the technology i.e. class lectures immediately being available online after class and updating the website on your decision making process each week decides on snail mail for your ultimate fate.
 
Admissions office said they mailed them out thursday so hopefully all will know soon. I actually managed to get them to still fax it over to me because of a special situation I explained to them ( a real one, not me just wanting to know lol). I was accepted.

tentative theory ... they will only fax acceptances ... waitlists and rejections have to come in the mail. Anyone want to disprove?

sounds plausible .. no disproving evidence here .. ahh but what do I care .. I got into Temple! (Temple > Drexel IMHO)

yeah, that's awsome, congrats. Agree with your inequality if i understand imho correctly.

at least last year, i see, they did fax waitlists and rejections.

lol i wonder if your "honest opinion" was swayed at all by your acceptance

...if it were the other way I'm sure we would be reading "Drexel > Temple IMHO."

no truly .. I liked temple a lot more .. for whatever reason my tour guide at Drexel was just downright creepy (although I doubt he was representative of the entire student body). Don't get me wrong I liked drexel a LOT and i'm sad that I'm not part of their class. Temple just has it going on. They're building a brand new medical school for 2009! Also, the students there seemed highly enthusiastic, and I enjoyed the tour thoroughly. To be completely honest, I sort of liked penn state perhaps more than temple because of the safety. Although I understand your logic, I must say that Temple is my preferred choice over drexel.
 
jult still haven't got my official letter from them either.
 
I talked to admissions again and apparently the person last week ( not a big shock) was incorrect and the decisions from last week were mailed out earlier this week.

Oh man, the admissions office just told me they were mailed out "yesterday, the 5th" ... who knows? Its like trying to pin Bush down on why we're in Iraq ...
 
you beat me to writing it jult. According to other posts that included postmarks it seems that decisions from one week go out the following thursday of the next week. So my guess is that when I called and erson said they went earlier this week , he meant that day lol. On the upside I do actually believe they went out on the 5th which means now only a matter of time. Hopefully the mail moves fast lke it should and you aren't too far away from the area.

Thats true, nice to know its actually in the mail. "Earlier this week" meaning an hour ago is funny. I think they must send out decisions only every other week, because my decision was made May 14th. Oh well, none of that matters now ...

I'm waiting for the Philly to Baltimore mail. Can you beat that? Are you planning on going to Drexel?
 
Yes I am in the philly area. If I don't get the official notice Monday I will say they may have lied again about when they sent it considering mail usually takes a max of 2-3 in the same city. Yes I am planning on going there, I really liked not only the school but the attitude of the students there.

For anyone still waiting, I interviewed the last day (4/12), had a final decision made 6/9, and received a faxed acceptance 6/11. So I'm guessing if your status just changed to "decision made", they'll be mailing out actual letters today. Good luck to anyone still waiting.
 
how did they know your fax number to send it to you? did you ask them to fax you the decision?

congratulations! are you going to go to drexel in the fall?

also, besides jult, are there other ppl waiting to receive a decision? and are there ppl out there who are still under review by committee?

you should call the admissions office and say that they claimed to have mailed it >2 weeks ago now, and you still haven't received anything, and that maybe it's gotten lost in the mail or something.. the same thing happened to my letter (it took 3+ weeks to get from philly -> ny) and i had to get my waitlist letter faxed to me

Yea, I asked them to fax it because I'm going to Italy and judging from how long it's taken other people to get theirs it wouldn't have made it in time.

Thanks! I'm definitely going. I was actually scheduled to retake the MCATs on Friday since my score is 3 yrs old. I've never been so happy to have wasted 200 bucks.

Oh, sorry, i meant to express 🙁 because I got my letter and it told me im waitlisted. So Im with you, good luck, are you startig to think about next year?

hey, well waitlisted is better than rejected, and there's supposedly gonna be movement this year, although nothing has happened (yet).. and yea im gonna reapply and retake the mcat in august.. you?
 
UNC - thats some inspiration. did you have to do a lot to improve your app for this cycle? glad it worked out for you this round.

Disqfish - yeah, thats true; i cant imagine theyd wait list me and then pull me in 2 weeks later, but i guess its possible. good luck to you, i hope you're at the top. mcat again ... oooh, thats rough ... ive forgotten what this is; -c-o-c-; ether? ester? My mcat is ok, my week spot is ECs / clinical experience. Not sure what i should do about that ...

I got a Masters in Bio w/ a 4.0. We had gross anatomy w/ cad lab and physio and neuro with a prof who used to teach it at Pitt's med school so I think that helped. Plus, I'm sure my LORs were a lot better since I actually knew these profs unlike my undergrad ones. I wish I would've retaken the MCAT earlier b/c I was crushing practice tests in prep for Friday (44 on AAMC 9 was the last I took). But it worked out in the end.

I was very optimistic when I heard about 2 weeks ago that Drexel had not yet filled their class for next year. I was hoping that meant the waitlist was going to start moving soon, but I guess they just hadn't finished giving outright acceptances yet.

Congrats to those who have gotten in and keep your fingers crossed for us!

yea, if they're still giving outright acceptances, there must be some seats left.. how did you about hear about this? and have you received a decision?

I heard from someone who knows people in the admissions office. I haven't gotten anything yet and neither have a couple other pple I've talked to from our program that are on the waitlist. I wish they would just hurry up...I'm studying for the July 18th MCATs 🙁 and I would rather not waste money on the AMCAS either....
 
has anyone else not received any decision at all yet (waitlist, rejection, acceptance) even though their online file says application decision has been made?

right, well my roommate was also in ims and he still hasn't received any decision from ducom (waitlist/reject/accept) which is ridiculous.. if you dont mind me asking, who do you know at the admissions office?

I personally don't know who my friend spoke to. She just gave me that info before classes ended. It makes sense though considering that they are still giving out acceptances.

That sucks that your roommate has not had any decision made on his application. There aren't too many of us...they should just let us in...
 
Drexel's Admissions office is atrocious and something of a joke. The fact that it takes them months and months to make a decision and send anything out while every other med school gets it done at least somewhat promptly was one of the reasons I deided not to go to Drexel. You'd think they would try and put on a good front if they want people to come to their school.

i completely agree.. i don't understand why every other medical school's waitlist seems to have started moving since may 15, yet to this day, drexel is still handing out decisions to ppl who interviewed.. really poor form.

so your application is still under review by committee? when did you interview?
