Hey guys,

I'm new to this forum. I'm applying to a few clinical psychology PhD programs this upcoming year. Due to financial reasons, I have to be really careful with the number of schools I apply to.

I have a professor I'm interested in working with at Drexel. However, it's really the only school on my list that I can't find any solid information about. I was wondering - does this program have a good reputation within the field? Is it a rigorous program? I know rankings don't matter - but its not even in the top 100 - so I just want to make sure I'm not missing a red flag.

I'd really appreciate any insight that anybody can give. I want to go into research, so the reputation of the program is really important to me.

Thanks in advance!

Drexel is highly, highly well-regarded as a program and also highly competitive. It's also very research-focused.

I interviewed at Drexel a few years ago and was impressed with their research, faculty, resources, etc. Drexel is certainly respected and I think you'd be hard pressed to find someone who feels otherwise. My only complaint with them was that they seemed to interview too many students considering the number of spots they had open--just a personal pet peeve. Yet, I would have gladly accepted at Drexel had I not gotten an offer from a school slightly higher on my list for reasons not related to relevant program specifics.

IIRC, they had a reduced fee if you applied online. They're a good program, but their funding isn't that fantastic. As with most programs, it depends more on the POI than the program in terms of reputation. Overall, still, they're fairly solid.

Yeah, I believe they offer full tuition remission and a 9K stipend. That's not enough to live on considering you're in the middle of Philadelphia. Could be worse, could be better.

I was also interested in Drexel but ended up taking it off my list. I e-mailed a professor there, and it took her awhile to get back to me (I believe about 2 months), but she e-mailed me a TON of info about her research, the program, and how my interests might fit in with her. So, even though their website doesn't have a lot of information, I would suggest trying to e-mail the professor(s) with whom you are interested in working with.

Yes, they listed their application fee as $75 -- the most expensive of all the programs I'm applying to! -- but once I did the grad app online, the fee was completely waived.

I'm applying to their neuropsych program. It was highly recommended to me by the neuropsychologists that I work with, although I did notice that it wasn't very highly ranked by U.S. News and World Report.

thanks for everyones generous help!!

wrote an email and am hoping for the best
