Okay, so I am having a hard time weighing out the pros and cons from each program.
Some background- cGPA: 3.38, sGPA: 3.16, MCAT 507. Tons of clinical experience (both volunteering and shadowing, <2000 hours) and volunteering. I had an unsuccessful cycle this past year, which I am attributing to my low GPA and a late application. Planning on retaking the MCAT later this summer since I know I could do better with more time to study.
I have gotten into the Cincinnati SMP and had a very good interview for the DPMS program already (I know I cannot count on the acceptance there, but am trying to have an idea about what I would do if I get to make a choice).
To me the pros of Cincinnati (cheaper cost of living, program seems much more structured and organized, in state tuition for med school after the master's year, better facilities and opportunities) make it a better choice over Drexel (did not love Philadelphia when I visited.. but also very expensive). However, I cannot shake the feeling that passing up the DPMS program and their guaranteed admission to medical school (granted I get a 3.2 GPA... I already made the MCAT cut off) would be a bad decision, despite feeling so strongly about Cincinnati.
Would I be crazy to turn down a DPMS acceptance to go to Cincinnati? I would really appreciate any input.
