Hello!

I just got accepted into the Drexel IMS Sacramento program for 2015-2016 and will be attending it in the fall. I am planning on taking the optional immunology and nutrition courses in order to meet the requirements for the guaranteed interview and was warned that with the inclusion of those classes, the workload would be extremely rigorous. As a result, I'm looking to see if any current IMS students would be able to provide me with their syllabi for all of the first semester classes so that I can go ahead and start looking over some of the material?

Also, if you guys could tell me about your experiences in the IMS program/provide advice, I would greatly appreciate it!

Thanks in advance!

Hey,
Congrats for the acceptance. Would you mind sharing your stats? I may be applying there next January.

Of course, here are my stats:
Cumulative GPA was 3.37
MCAT was 30 with 10s in all sections

Hey, I just got my acceptance today! Have you heard anything more about it? would be interested in getting the info too. still debating if I should go or not..

Congrats! Well, I am definitely attending so I paid my tuition deposit and set up my account and found that I can access all of the first year med school notes and lectures for the current school year (2014-2015) so, assuming that the notes won't change significantly from this year (which they shouldn't), i'm just going through and reading the notes and watching the lectures for the classes we would take.

If you don't mind me asking, what are you planning on doing if you don't attend this program?

Congrats! I'm leaning towards yes but still weighing the options. As of now I don't have a set alternative. I'm working a good job in a research lab so I could keep it and just take classes over time to raise my GPA. I'm just a little concerned with the amount of money I'd spend to pack up a move from the west coast to philly. And Drexel medical college ain't cheap.

How do you feel about it all?

Thanks! It's definitely a tough choice, but I think overall, the post bacc is probably the best option for me. From what I heard, if you meet the requirements for the guaranteed interview (and from what I've read on sdn as well as heard from former students), most people don't because it's actually pretty difficult, it's almost a guaranteed acceptance as long as you don't completely screw up the interview. It's not a miracle fix and I'd definitely have to work extremely hard but I think it'll be worth it if I can go for MD because although I'm also applying DO because I like the overall philosophy, as of right now, MDs still have an advantage in a wider variety of fields.

I feel you about costs though...I'm moving from west coast too. I was really annoyed that they took out the sac campus this year, but it's a little easier for me because I graduated college in 3 years so I'm able to look at this more as my "last year of undergrad".

Yeah I am just in a weird position where I feel as though I am ready for the curriculum but I know I do not know since I have never had a course load of that magnitude. I am a bit skeptical about the guaranteed acceptance part. I realize not a ton of people meet the interview criteria from the IMS program but there are 3 others programs competing for those spots, however, it does seem like the IMS is best prepared of all the programs.

Are you going to apply this cycle or wait until you finish the year? Yeah from your MCAT/GPA it doesn't appear you need this program for DO schools but it will certainly help get your foot in the door at Drexel.
