I found out today that I was accepted into the CA Drexel IMS campus and wait listed for the Philadelphia IMS campus. Before applying I had never heard of the CA campus. I haven't been able to find out much about it online, only that there are 20-25 students in the program. From what the interviewer said on the phone I understand there are about 110 people in the IMS program total, so the bulk of them must be in PA.

Is there a difference between the two programs?

Will one help me out more then the other?

I live in CT, so I would rather go to the PA campus since it is only 3-4 hours drive from home.

Is it worth passing on the CA guaranteed acceptance and waiting to hear from the PA campus? Can I accept both and just go to the PA campus if they have a place for me?

Any extra info will help me make my decision.

Last year I was accepted to the Sacramento program and waitlisted at the Philly one, just like you. Around the same time too. I never got off the waitlist for Philly. It might be a good idea to call their office and find out if there's a ranking on their waitlist.

If you have specific questions on the Sac program, PM me. Overall it was a great experience, but I won't know the overall results till after this application cycle.

the CA guaranteed acceptance
Could you please elaborate on this? I wasn't aware that going to the California program guaranteed acceptance to their med school? 😕

Neither the Philly or Sac program guarantee your acceptance. The programs are the same.

The programs are the same. Philly definitely has way more people. I was in the Cali program last year and felt it was a worthwhile experience. I have seen posts on SDN before about how Cali students might be more isolated and not get the attention that the Philly students get. I find this hard to believe because I have heard that Philly students don't get much attention at all. At least in Sacramento you have a smaller ratio of students to faculty members. But if you have any questions about the Cali program or about Sacramento in general, feel free to PM me.

He was talking about guaranteed acceptance into the IMS Sac (CA) program.
