Here we go again, but I need to ask.

Touro ca vs WUSTL postbacc.

Im asking as I didnt know when I applied I wanted to do surgery but now I do. Specifically I want to leave plastics/ortho or cards open. I got wl last cycle at ucsd and frist and I was told it was due to my MCAT/gpa which I get. I know its foolish but I was thinking about the post bacc as I got accepted today. Its dumb to do, right?

Reinventors are seldom, and I mean really seldom, at the top of the pack in medical school, and from my experience they end up going into the usual specialties. They do not go into the Uber specialties.

So a little tough love here, and I'm trying to say this in the nicest possible way: you are not God's gift to medicine, and you're not the type of student who's going to sail into vascular surgery or derm, or Neurosurgery, or ENT if you go to an MD School

Just go to toro, become a doctor, and when you're an attending, your salary will be exactly the same as any MD in your specialty

Appreciate the advice but I disagree to an extent. I am not the smartest nor do I think I'm god's gift. But that doesn't mean I can't change/get better. I was told by my mentors that I could put in the work now for MD and have an easier time matching residency or put in the work later as a DO and have a much harder time. Regardless, if I want a certain specialty as I do now, I'll need to put in work somewhere. After some thought, I don't think I'd be happy if I only went into FM/IM, it's just not from me based on my experience. I don't think money should be a focus either but instead what kind of doctor I want to be and where. I think I am leaning towards the postbacc as I'd regret not shooting for the stars. If that means not being a doctor, then it probably was for the best.
