I think we should use this to track the process for fall 2009.

Has anyone else completed their application super early like me? I feel so stupid lol

its on my list to apply..wont be sending it in yet, still have a couple of things to figure out. I am just confused about how long the program, cause online it says one year or two years (second year option with IMS). I am trying to wonder if it makes you look really competitive after only the TWO years. Any insight anyone? I might call the office soon.
Did you take your GREs or MCATs?

i took MCATs (wont tell my score lol). many ppl stay the second yr simply to make themselves more competitive even if they could have gotten in to med school after doing MSP. ive heard different things about when students typically apply tho. the 2 years should def b enough tho.

bump!

hey...just wanna know if there are any other people out there applying to the Drexel MSP or IMS

I applied for the MSP program...waiting to hear back : )

i just mailed in my application to IMS on friday and my transcript and letters are on their way. hopefully i'll be complete soon!

I applied at the end of January for the IMS program and still waiting to hear back. Probably going to call them this week to see if they began reviewing my app. Good luck to all of you applying.

I took both the GRE and MCAT (I am applying to Masters programs as well). I applied early and already had a phone interview. I think I should hear about an acceptance or rejection within the next two weeks.

bump!

I received a call last week that I was accepted to the MSP program!
I haven't gotten an email confirmation yet... anyone else hear anything?

Hey Camby congrats..still unsure if I'm going to apply to the program. Does anyone know what kind of stats they are looking for?

I got a phone interview from Drexel for IMS on thursday. The interviewer said that with the information from my phone interview, they'll send my file to committee and I should hear back in 2-3 weeks! *crosses fingers*

I'm currently in the IMS program so if anyone has any questions feel free to PM me..

I sent in my application in late January and haven't heard a peep. I called (no answer) and sent an e-mail (no answer).

Just a little worried, especially because they haven't even cashed the check yet.

Are we all in the same boat or should I start to believe my application never made it/went to the wrong place?

🙂

Do you need an interview to get into the MSP/DPMS program ?

my application was complete in january and i havent heard anything. congrats to the person accepted....

I sent my application in last week and just got a phone call about a phone interview. I was wondering if anyone had any advice about the phone interview.

I am a non-trad, currently working as a chemist hoping to go to medical school.

i just interviewed today. i was told my application was complete around 3/20.

i just got a call to schedule my interview today and i was complete in january i guess it isnt rolling admissions like they say......

yea they are but i dont know if everyone gets interviewed or only ppl under serious consideration

Just to let you guys know, if you are hoping to get in to drexel by doing these programs, you need to have a good MCAT score. they will not give you any special consideration. EVEN IF you do very well in the program.

I just got an acceptance email this morning but I also got into Loyola's MAMS which is my top choice so I will be withdrawing. I hope one of you gets my spot!

Does anyone know how this program compares to the BU MAMS program. I I still have to set up my phone interview for Drexel MSP. Would I regret a decision to just tell them now I don't attend to go. Any help would be appreciated thanks!

Just found out I got in. Most likly going to go. Does anyone know anything about fin aid.

If u filled out fafsa u shouldve gotten a letter from Drexel saying fill out our paper too

Hi everyone,

I decided to join the conversation as I was once in your shoes as an applicant to the Drexel MSP program. I know it can be a confusing and anxiety provoking time as you try to figure out what's going on. Since I sucessfully completed this program, I would be happy to answer questions you might have if you send me a private message.

Good luck to those who are still waiting and those who have gained entrance!

After competing the MSP, what are your thoughts? How in depth was the MCAT prep course? Any acceptances? Did you just do the one year, and if so, what are your plans for the 'glide year' between the MSP and med school?

Sorry to bombard you with all the questions, I am just VERY confused at what I should be doing right now, and any help would be much appreciated!

Also.....am I WAY too late to be starting to apply to the MSP?

haha did anyone else's check just get cashed? my application was back in february and they JUST deposited it (mid-may). i was going to withdraw from drexel anyways because i'm already in my top choice. haha

Hey everyone,

If you do the MSP, do you have to go on to the IMS? Or can you apply to medical schools after the MSP assuming all goes well?

Thanks! 🙂

MBS (as it is known when it's your second year) is optional. IMS is what it is known as for people entering this program in their first year, but the actual curriculum is the same. People have applied and been successful at gaining admission after completing only MSP. In fact, a few people I knew applied to medical school while completing their MSP year as well. Good luck twocentnews!

Congratulations!

If you don't mind me asking, what kind of stats did you have? I'm really interested in this program, but I am having a hard time figuring out if I even have a chance of getting in.

Hi. I have my interview for the MSP program coming up and REALLY want to do well since I wasn't so successful with the med schools this year. Any heads up on the interview? Are the questions intense? Do I need to prepare for it? Any advice is greatly appreciated! Thanks 🙂

I, too, would like to know how the interview is like and how to prepare for it.

If you still have the phone interview coming up I would say...don't worry about it at all. They are real nice and its pretty informal. They ask you basic questions...Why you want to be a doctor, strengths/weaknesses, what separates you from other applicants...what are the problems in healthcare, what do you do for fun. My interview was decent at best and was pretty short but still got in.

I was wondering if any of the former students have any recomendations about loans for covering extra cost?

Hi does anyone know when MSP starts this year? I just applied a few days ago. I am on the wait list for DPMS, anyone else? just tryin 2 get an idea about what they're doing.

Hey I had my phone interview last week, and since its getting closer to start time I just wanted to know how long it took for everyone to get replies? Also is anyone staying in Stiles?

Hey 1913BabyDoc,

I was wait listed as well for DPMS and I just put my app in for MSP on Friday the 26th. How long did it take for them to call you? Also, do you think if you do the MSP that you can apply to DPMS next year. Good luck with all your apps. 🙂:xf:

Yes, I am still waiting to hear back, I had my phone interview last wednesday. I spoke to Stiles, and they are not holding spots for MSP students, and because move in is 8/1 if there is a spot you are good, otherwise you are on your own for housing, but Craigslist.com has a lot of great listings. But don't worry about the interview! Its every question you expect really, nothing suprising. Good Luck!

there shouldnt b a problem trying to get a 2 or 3 bedroom in stiles call and ask to speak to michele she does the assignments

Yeah ...1 bedrooms are on waitlisted...but I have been doing most of search through craiglist...

I was placed on hold May 27, took a patient-care job, and was accepted today.

Now begins the week-long internal struggle to study for the MCAT on my own (I know I can do better than 9p, 9v, 8b, 26P by studying, on my own or structured) while continuing a 40-hour-a-week job, or move to Philly.

Advice?

Important info:
26P, 3.5c/3.0s GPA. 0 interviews with 3 MD and 4 DO applications (too few, I know).
Patient care job (sleep tech)
6 month old daughter (that's her on my avatar) with working fiance.
Decent, but not spectacular ECs (100 volunteer hrs, 200 shadowing hrs in an ED)

thanks
