hey all...

so i've been accepted to PIL, but i can't make the final decision as to whether this is the best thing for me...up till my acceptance i thought it was...

anyone else in the same boat...?

Can some current PILers or IFMers give some input on the issue.....like, do you enjoy the program ur in, how difficult you feel it is, etc.

thanks for the love

why don't you just decide after the week "trial" they have? or is it that you don't want to hang out with me for the week before school starts? 😉

pwrpfgrl-

I never really thought about it, but they let you abandon ship after that orientation week? That's good. I've just been operating under the assumption that I'll love it, but who knows. Have you called to confirm your spot in the orientation, or is that something that can wait until July?

from what i understand, the PIL orientation is our chance to sort of test run the system. if you don't like it, you can just switch over to IFL when they get there. but you can't ever switch back!

i called last week. it was really simple - just gave them my name. the woman on the phone was super nice, it just made me more excited to start!!

see you in a couple of months!
🙂

pardon my ignorance, whats PIL and ILF?

BUCA: Of course we're gonna chill.......i think i'm gonna do PIL tho....i mean everyone i have talked to loves it. That's gotta tell you something.

EXMIKE: PIL--program for integrated learning
IFM--the lecture based curriculum (i don't remember what each letter stands for)

PIL is the problem based curriculum @ Drexel....

hope that helps

tubs..

holla back..

ifm is certainly more flexible... ie., if you don't feel like going to class because you're sick, tired, hungover, etc... you don't have to.. pil, you have to attend regardless... if you're comfortable w/ lectures, then ifm is the way to go... but if you prefer alternative ways of learning like small groups and such, pil is the way to go... if you decide to go pil and you don't like it after orientation, don't get sucked into it simply because you made a few friends... you'll end up hating it for the rest of the years... just make sure you're honest w/ yourself about what style suits YOU best. if you've done great attending lecture-based classes, then there's probably no reason to do pil...
