I need to vent...

Anybody going crazy right now because of someone else's fault? For me, i'd like to blame my prehealth advisor for taking so long to send out my letters, hence pushing back my app completion 1.5 months of what it would've been if she were on top of her game.

With pre-dec 1st interviews waning down at a good number of northeast schools, i'm getting extremely nervous having not heard from most of them. I'm fortunate to have one pre-dec interview thus far from an out-of-state school known to give out invites without letters, which tells me that i'm probably a good candidate at other schools as well (esp. at my state school).

With my app FINALLY being considered complete at some schools, I'm afraid i won't hear back from them for another month or so meaning no chance in getting more pre-dec 1st interviews. AHHHHHHH! It's driving me crazy. D*** my advisor.

Anybody in the same or similar situation as me?

Its just part of the process. There are always people out there that don't make your life easy. You just have to overcome it. And the payoff is what keeps you going.

YES!!

I had originally asked one of my profs that I TA'd for in mid-June for a letter and he promised it to me by the end of June. However, I did not find out that it been lost in the campus mail system then. Keep in mind all he had to do was walk 100 feet to the committee letter service office to drop it off by hand but for some strange reason he decides to use campus mail. Anyways, I call his office, e-mail him, drop by his office and leave notes on the door every week basically pestering him about since the beginning of August and never got a reply. I FINALLY confront him about two weeks ago when I saw him at, of all places and by pure coincidence, a McDonalds across campus. He said that he had that thing done a long time ago and just got back from vacation. So, he still says he has a record of it and will drop it off the first thing the next day. The story isn't over yet. I get a call the next day from the committee letter office saying that they do not accept photocopies of letters and basically ripped it apart and accused me of fraud/forgery (of course, they said this in the nicest way possible but that was the gist of it). So, I have to contact my prof again about it and explain the situation. Finally!! I get the whole thing settled after another series of flaming hoops and my letters just got sent out by aadsas last week. My app is entirely screwed because of my borderline stats and I've basically lost hope in the cycle.

With your stats, I would not be worried about it at all.

i'd like to blame my prehealth advisor

Everyone's pre-health/pre-dental advisor sucks. If anyone is the exception to that rule, congratulations, but for the most part they are terrible and utterly useless.

yea... i decided to skip the whole prehealth office business.... so i had to track down individual professors..... originally had 5 letters... 4 went to aadsas.. the one that i wanted sent out separately took like 7 months........ cause i've asked since february to write the damn letter.. i'm not sure if he's sent it out yet (pestered 3 times, even went into office since this semester started) but i've sort of given up cause most of the schools have started reviewing my files without the letter cause i already sent 4 through aadsas.

i was in teh SAME position as you dent2009 - had the prehealth office turned in my letter in the summer, my app wouldve been complete in early AUGUST but they delayed and it was finally in mid SEPT.

on a positive note tho, ive gotten 2 interviews thus far and i still feel like its really early on the game...OCT is JUST getting started so you can still land dates for end of OCT and ALL of NOV...you'll be fine!

Before I even prepared my application stuff, I was told by an elder that the LOEs would hands-down be the nightmare of the process. I had to apply for something else a couple years ago and this was the same.

To everyone: asking for LOEs far in advance is one of the best things you can do to keep your application on time.

The deadline you need to give them is May 15th (the opening of the cycle) or maybe earlier, depending on how long you think it might take them
