I got owned on my chem MT and I am thinking of dropping that class. Do you think it is going to look bad if I drop a class after getting interviews? Would it hurt my chance of getting accepted?

Thanks

First of all, what is your current grade after factoring in the MT? And yes, dropping a class would be bad because it shows that you are not capable of handling the academic load in DS.

A W is always better than a D or F in my book

I was already offered a couple of interviews and I am only a few credits short of graduation. I could probably work my butt off to get a B or just retake it next semester and aim for an A (but if I choose to retake, I would only have 1 course next semester). What do you think is better?

Work your butt off for that B. Looks better than W 🙂

I disagree. No one cares about one class. Drop it and have fun.

That is not a reason to get an acceptance revoked. (Unless this is a prereq or something)

Also depends on various things. Such as, is he taking a lot of hours at the moment? And how many of those hours are science hours? If chem was his only science course and dropped it, he'd better have a good excuse to tell admissions. If that were the case, admissions might say "he isn't capable of handling the academic rigor in DS if he's taking 1-2 science courses and had to drop one because he couldn't handle it."
