If one were severely misled in a course description, do you think it would be at all feasible to talk to the Dean about dropping it without receiving a W? Long story short, I signed up for a class on urinalysis as I needed one more credit in lab sciences, and thought learning about the clinical side of urinalysis testing would be interesting. Within a few weeks of 'learning' about urinalysis, we dropped the entire subject and switched into blood banking work, which was never mentioned in the syllabus or course description. I have no interest in the work we're doing, or constantly being stuck by students who don't know how to draw blood.

I doubt you could swing that, but it cant hurt to try it out.

If it doesn't match the course description in the school's official catalogue, it's definitely worth a try. I'm pretty sure the catalogue is basically the school's bible. Even if you can't drop the class without a W, you could probably get the teacher to be forced back on topic.
