Hi everyone. I got into the school of my dreams. I enrolled in statistics for another vet school and don't need to take it anymore.

Currently I'm working 67+ hours a week and would like to drop this class if I can.

It's going to be seen as a fail though. Is that going to affect anything? I'm already halfway through the course so should I just keep going with it?

Definitely check with your vet school before doing anything- I think it's unlikely it would affect your acceptance, but it's possible. Personally, I would keep going with it unless I felt I absolutely couldn't.

Thanks! Yeah I'm going to keep going with it. I guess I just needed one person to make me realize finishing the class is better. lol

Oh my, @alpaperart . That's a lot in a week. I would check with your vet school if you need it/ if it would affect your admissions. If it doesn't, follow @Caiter92 's advice she tried to give me and drop that class before you burn out! You got accepted to vet school!

Congratulations! Treat yo self- don't kill yourself trying to be perfect.

😱😱😱

The most I worked while I was in school was 30-35 hours/week. I can't even imagine how you're making this work.

You don't need an A, just work for a passing grade. I'd also recommend keeping the class unless your school confirms it won't affect your matriculation.

Don't you wish you had listened to me now? 😛

This. Is there anyway you can drop hours at work? Like pbc I was around 30 hours a week for a good portion of undergrad between research and my job, and that kept my busy enough. 60+ hours is going to be hard for anyone, especially on top of a full course load.

I really, really hope alpaperart is not a full-time student. That's a lot of hours to work even with nothing else going on!

On the note of working for a passing grade, @alpaperart can you switch to pass/fail? Or talk to your professor or advisor about your situation and see what they can do?

haha I'm not a full time student. So doing 67 hours a week plus around 8 hours of commuting a week... kind of brutal but doable. I was a complete idiot last night during an emergency because I was on my 67th hour of work for the week and really just wanted to go home at that point. Letting them know next time I'll be in ICU for my last few hours my 6th day working.

I think I'll just keep the class and go for a B- or something. I've only ever had 2 or was it 3 B's in my undergraduate career so a B- or even a C for a course I don't really need should be okay I hope.

Maybe I can ask if I can switch to pass/fail. The class is a little over halfway done. You can still do pass/fail at this point???? Because that would be perfect.

I just need all these hours at work and if I could lower my stress even a little that would be perfect.

Technically you probably can't switch to pass/fail, but I think it's definitely worth talking to your professor/advisor/dean/whoever will listen. If you explain your situation, they may be able to bend some rules. Squeaky wheel gets the grease.

This - especially if P/F is allowed at your school.

Congratulations on your acceptance to vet med school! 🙂

Once you've been accepted, I think most schools just require at least a C in any prereqs you have left, and don't care about your grade if it's not a required course. They might also require you to keep your GPA above a certain level. I echo the advice to check with the school. It will depend on your current school whether or not it's too late to switch to pass/fail.

That is a TON of hours to work each week, I hope you have something fun planned for the summer at least! Going straight into vet school after working that much sounds like a recipe for burnout.
