Hello, I plan on applying to Medical School next year. I have been a Pianist at my University for over 3 years now, doing accompaniment and other performances quarterly. However, I have been getting quite “fed up” with my piano instructor, I believe she is quite toxic to my self esteem, and is no way someone whom I would request to write a letter of recommendation. I don’t want to do this anymore the stress is unreal, but I feel that this activity is very important to list in my AMCAS as I spent so much time on it, and it’s a big part of my Identity. I don’t want to be seen as a quitter.

You are not expected to supply a reference for an Artistic Endeavor.

You can still list your musical interest up to the date of application if you continue to play for your own pleasure.

You will not be seen as a quitter. If working with your current instructor is detrimental to your well-being, then stop working with them. Associating with them is not essential to your application or future career. Use the time to pursue other interests instead. You can always continue to play piano for your own enjoyment for continuity.

You don't need to state that you stopped the EC, since you're probably going to continue doing it. Even if you did, this will hardly affect your application.
