Hi all,

I have compiled a list of drugs that decrease mortality of congestive heart failure. This tends to be a high yield topic, I think.

1. Spirinolactone
2. Beta blockers
3. ACEI / ARBs
4. Hydralazine combined with Nitrates

Any other drugs that reduce mortality that I am missing? Thanks!

Those are the only ones I know of. And I guess it's not all beta blockers, specifically carvedilol and metoprolol.
Also the hydralazine/nitrate combo is supposedly specific for African-Americans but I really really hope step 1 isn't so picky...

bisoprolol is the other beta blocker and specifically it is the metoprolol XL.

It is in the study we learned in pharm school unless it has changed. I doubt that will matter but for completeness. I prefer to use coreg. But you might not want the alpha effects in some patients.

Although they do not increase mortality loops and dig are also very important. Also, be careful not to use beta blockers in decomp HF. They actually make it worse.
