Are we given a dry erase board or sheet?

What brand and type of markers are we given? I heard they were the Expo brand with the Fine Tip...

What kind of eraser are we given?

Thanks for the help!!

I've never heard of anyone getting a dry erase board.... I was given paper. Is there a reason why the brand would matter?

You were given a pencil and paper? When did you take the test?

The only reason I wanted to know the brand was so I could practice with it... I'm not exactly used to writing with a dry erase board/marker. I've heard some pretty bad stories about dry erase markers and boards on test day.

Whoa! OK first and farmost, you need to C-H-I-L-L. I know the feeling and the nervousness etc. but I can tell by this comment you are nervous and I promise you when you sit down, w/in the first 10 minutes you will have a sense of relief (except for when you get to the quatitative reasoning and reading sections---- then MAYBE you will be uber stressed.)

As the other person mentioned, I was also given paper and pencils. No, i don't know how many pieces but I had plenty and they were blank on both sides and was given ~ 2 pencils. Also, you can raise you hand and they give you more. I actually did not really need to use that many since most of the questions were conceptual (esp physics & chem--you will be surprised at how little calculating you will do!). I took my exam in early October, fyi.

Good luck.

Actually, I'm C-H-I-L-L. I just thought I might be able to get some helpful advice.

Check the "Examinee Guide" on opted.org. On page 14, it says "Scratch paper and pencils are not permitted" right after it describes the use of dry erase markers.

I was also given a couple of pieces of paper and a pencil.........If I remember correctly, you might want to check, I was also given the option of getting more paper, if needed, by the invigilator if I ran out.

Good luck 👍

I'm glad to give helpful advice, I just wasn't sure why it mattered what brand the dry erase board and marker were. Even if someone remembered the brand, there is no guarantee that your particular test center would have the same one.

I did have good old fashioned paper and pencil. I took my test in August of 2006 (seems so long ago!). When they refer to not allowing scratch paper, I think they are referring to "outside" paper and pencil. You aren't allowed to bring anything in, but if that's what your testing center provides you - I'm sure it is fine.

Hey john,

I took the test less than a year ago and ran across the same conundrum as you. I asked the testing place prior to my test appointment if I was to get a dry erase board and it sounded like they had no clue what I was talking about. I remember seeing that stated on the opted website as well. I think the thing about scratch paper and pencils means you can't bring them yourself. That's open to interpretation, especially when the website explicitly states that you will be given a dry erase board. Maybe something was lost in translation along the way.

I was given some scratch paper and a couple of pencils. I hate dry erase boards and was actually relieved. In the end its not a big deal, but you might want to contact your actual testing site to make sure what they provide so you are prepared for that.
