Hi DS students! I am about to apply this summer to DS. I have great grades ect but I am not sure where to apply. I think I have a great shot at a good percentage of schools. I am a really hard worker [and do not mind it] but I love my breaks. Are there any dental schools with larger Winter/ Summer breaks than others or are they all the same? Also could u give me some advice on which schools have great classmate chemistry, I would prefer a younger crowd (with hot girls!). The most important thing is longer breaks possibly lower stress levels than the average DS. Could you guys give me some input? I just want to be a gendentist so I do not care about "grades" as long as I pass.

Greatly Appreciated!

Dental School is not like college. Summers are typically 3 weeks and Christmas break is a little more than 2 weeks. Schools vary, but these are the numbers I am familiar with. You will run into a little bit of a catch 22 with your philosophy though. At louisville, our fall and spring terms are a little lighter because we take classes all summer (3 week break). Other schools may cram more classes into fall and spring terms so get more time off over summer. I'm also interested in why you are applying to those schools. It's an interesting list.... If you do have good grades, why not throw in Case, Michigan and Marquette. And if you are applying to Indiana (location) and Noca (expense), why not Louisville? and of course Boston, Tufts, Upenn, Buffalo are all fine schools, but they are all geographically isolated from the other schools you are looking at, which is why I didn't mention them.

Worrying about break size should definitely be the most important consideration, especially ahead of costs. 🙁

Many schools have a 10 week summer break (Tufts). After that, you're lucky to have a month combined for summer. In fact, many state schools, due to budget cuts, are keeping their clinics open longer. So, the breaks decreased and some may even have staggered breaks! Half the class will be on vacation while the other is in clinic.

Dentcest is the easiest option for practicing procreation. Hot people look average after several years in d-school. Average people look hot after several years in d-school. In addition to this, alcohol is the largest stress relief used. You just need to be in the right place at the right time.
