Hi, so it just occurred to me that my dual credits I got in high school from a CC would count towards my GPA.

So apparently I have 39 credits with a 4.0 GPA from the CC... which sounds ridiculous. In there, I have three quarters of Biology (A's), but I'm going to take Biology here at my undergrad college anyway.. does that mean my old ones won't factor into my GPA or what? I would prefer to not replace them if I get Bs in Bio here.

My high school courses were much easier. It feels like cheating, haha...

Both grades will factor into your gpa, and why take them over just take a higher level bio class.

Really? Wow, okay. That's a really nice cushion for my GPA, then.

And I don't feel those classes were adequate for a full years worth of Bio. I just feel like I could learn it a lot better here. The credits also don't transfer over to my undergrad, so I wouldn't be able to take higher level Bio.

AMCAS (MD) would factor in all grades earned, but AACOMAS the DO application service, would only use the most recent grade in their calculation.

You have a nice cushion already against GPA challenges at a more rigorous institution. Prove those As were worth something by earning high grades at your current school, too.

Right.. I suppose it would look bad to lower my grade. Hopefully that will go well.

Do you know what dental schools would see? I'm not sure if I might do that yet.

Why are you asking pre-allo about this?

I had the same thing, it was an awesome boast to my cGPA and sGPA when applying! Don't take the same classes over(unless you really need the GPA boost). It'll look better if you take a couple higher level classes and do well in those.

Get out of whatever intro classes you can. They're usually weed-out classes at major universities and graded pretty harshly. The upper division ones are much better in that respect, as well as more interesting 🙂

But my undergrad doesn't accept those credits because they were taking in a high school. I just got dual credit for it.

So even if I wanted to take higher level Bio, I couldn't because I can't transfer the Bio credits as pre-reqs.

Thanks everyone. 🙂
