I just read this in a post. That was a joke right? They don't interview "everyone" who gets a secondary do they? Doesn't everyone get a secondary? It didn't appear that they screen because I got one without MCAT scores. (Aug MCATer). I would of course love to interview there, but not if I didn't have a realistic chance of getting in. 😕

maybe i'm the dumbest on this site, but a few years ago, duke didnt give me an interview...
matter of fact, they were quite quick in their rejection letter....

Well when my MCATs come in, I'm sure I'll get rejected too. It felt good that they wanted a secondary though. 🙂

According to US News Online, Duke interviews 15% of all applicants. I think 100% of applicants (or some really high %) got secondaries. So no, I dont think all people who sent in secondaries got interviews, unless something completely changed in the last year.

everyone gets a secondary now and there's no possible way they interview everyone...5,000 interviews?

Duke absolutely DOES NOT interview all applicants. Somebody did ask whether Duke interviews everyone, but that thread has since been deleted. It was not a good question to begin with.

Hopefully we can all get interviews there, but, once again, not everyone does.

I don't know how Duke screens applicants for interview, but I got my invite after only 3 weeks from the time i sent in my secondary...and i'm not exactly the top candidate out there.

From their website:

Applications are received by AMCAS from June 15 to October 15. After receiving the application materials from AMCAS, our Admissions Office will review the materials. If your credentials qualify, we will notify you to fill out an on-line supplemental application, which should be returned to us within two weeks (no later than December 1). After reviewing that form, two faculty members will determine whether to proceed with an interview.

So I guess not everyone receives a secondary. About 20% got interviews out of the total applicants. I don't know what percent completes gets secondaries or completes them. It was a very long app. Hope it works out. 🙂

gleev - your pm box is full😡

Duke used to screen everyone and selectively offer secondaries, but they stopped this the year AMCAS went online and things got screwed up (for the graduating class of 2006). From what I hear, they haven't done any such pre-screening since then, meaning now everyone gets a secondary.

Hmm, my pm is full? I cleaned it out a week ago? I emptied it out, try again.
