Question 90 in EK Bio

If an Ach antagonist were administered generally into a person, all of the following would be affected except:

A. the neuroeffector synapse in the sympathetic nervous system
B. the neuroeffector synapse in the parasympathetic nervous system
C. the nmj in the somatic nervous system
D. the ganglionic synapse in the sympathetic nervous system.

From the answer choices A is the best answer, since the neurotransmitter for the sympathetic neuroeffector synapse is epinephrine, but if you antagonize Ach, you would inhibit the sympathetic ganglionic synapse, and thus not even transmit a signal to the neuroeffector synapse. So, antagonizing Ach does affect the sympathetic neuroeffector synapse, just indirectly.

I think by neuroeffector they are referring to the postganglionic neuron, and since option D is talking about what you said, A is the "best" answer (really only holds true if they do a local injection, not a systemic where it goes everywhere)

Yea, the neuroeffector is postganglionic.
