Someone else has probably already thought of this or made a site to do this but I have no idea where to look for it, so I was looking to see if anyone knew anything about the prospects. My thought was it be nice to be able to swap places with another DPT student when doing clinical rotations so as not having to pay for two different places to stay. For instance I am starting the DPT program at Lynchburg College in Lynchburg, VA. I'm wanting to do a clinical rotation say in the Orlando, FL area. Will say a UCF student wants to do a clinical rotation in Virginia. We decided to trade housing for the 8 weeks or 16 or whatever it may be so as not having to pay for rent in two places. Kinda like subleasing I suppose but with a higher purpose. Anyone know of such a thing or maybe be a good idea to do something like this on this board? I dunno i'm just putting it out there.

I have a similar suggestion that has been used, though it won't be a free trade like you suggest. If you are taking a clinical that is near another DPT program, contact that program. Our clinical coordinator would send out emails to all students in the program, asking if anyone had anything available. Personally, I rented out the guest rooms in our house to a number of PT and OT students this way. We charged rent, but it was far cheaper than any apartment and without the worry of utilities, laundry, or moving furniture, etc. There were other students that subleased in their apartments as well. This probably works particularly well in cities like here in Pittsburgh, where there are both 3 PT programs and a dense collection of medical facilities for clinicals.

There is always the not so reliable Craigslist. A site like you suggested wouldn't be a bad idea.
