E1 or E2?

3-hydroxy, 2-methyl butane (did I name that right?) reacts with acid and heat to produce an alkene. Is this E1 or E2. I'll tell you what the answer is after you explain your reasoning...i think achiever is WRONG! or im really confused...
 
Any elimination with acid and/or heat must be E1...its one of those rules you have to memorize. The reason is because the acid protonates the -OH group making it leave and then a cation is formed. Then the water extracts the proton from the carbon adjacent to the cation forming the double bond.

E2 is a second order reaction. Depends on both nuc/strong base and leaving group. OH picks up the acidic proton. Making it a very good leaving group and leaving a carbocation where you will then form the alkene.

It can't be E2 because you dont have a strong base.
