Isn't the eardrum(tympanic membrane) for amplifying sound energy?
The middle ear does? Or only ossicles(Milus, etc) do?
 
The tympanic membrane converts sound energy into a vibration of equal frequency, and that the ossicles actually amplify the vibration.
