Hi,

I was wondering if any accepted SDNers out there could post their earliest acceptances (but not from any Early Decision programs). Just thought it would be interesting to know which schools are on the ball early on!

This has more to do with YOU than the school. Schools with rolling admissions can offer admission as early as October. If you are an outstanding candidate, you could have several acceptances by Thanksgiving. If you are just good, you probably will have to wait until Jan or Feb, when the schools can see what the rest of the pool looks like and then decide how you compare. Sorry, I know that's not what you wanted to hear, but it seems to be the case.

I agree with VW. I was really really on the ball and applied early. I also applied to some schools with rolling admissions. As a result, I had all of my acceptances before Thanksgiving. I wouldn't call me an "oustanding candidate" -- just fortunate from the combination of rolling admissions and being on the ball and getting really early interviews etc. When you actually schedule your interview I'm sure has an effect too.

If your first interview is at a school with rolling admissions or you are some knockout applicant, you might cross your fingers and hope to have news from them within 3-4 weeks. No guarantees on that, but it worked that way for me. Since most schools don't interview until late September or early October, that puts the earliest possible acceptance range around mid to late October.

But don't hang out at the mailbox around Halloween... like VW said, it's kinda hard to generalize and predict.

🙂 Scott

I had my first acceptance a few weeks before Thanksgiving, although I know some people had their earlier. What's the earliest schools can admit non-EDP people? October 15th? I know some SDNers got in on that day (whatever it is).

I had an acceptance from slu dated oct 15, that was because as soon as I got my April mcat score in I submitted my amcas application.

I have a friend who had an IU acceptance in October. I don't suspect that too many SDNers will be applying there though.

i had my first interview at Ohio State on Sep 30th, and first acceptance two weeks later from them on Oct 15th. I think I just got lucky with them though, my applications were submitted decently early/on time but by no means way on the ball (primary mid-july, secondaries from late july/early aug-early october).

I was an August MCATer and my first interview was 18th or 19th November. My first acceptance was late November (WashU).
