Let's say someone had their primary sent June 29th, the earliest day possible, and then turned in their secondaries relatively quickly, say by the end of the first week in July, and everything else including MCAT score and LORs are in by then.

Do adcoms begin looking at applications by mid July? I know that the earliest decision for the regular applicant pool is October 15th. I was just curious if having everything being "complete" by mid July should be a goal, or if the application won't even be reviewed until sometime in August for example.

Depends on the school and when they start interviewing. If you look at some of the school-specific threads from last cycle, you'll find that people started getting interview offers in July for interviews at the end of August. Maybe check last cycle's threads for the schools on your list to see when they start turning out interviews.

there's no one answer for this. every school will do it on their own schedule.

The best answer is that it depends.

My AMCAS wasn't complete until "late" (mid Aug) due to a "late" MCAT (mid July), so I didn't begin secondaries until mid/late August. During this time, or shortly thereafter I did notice a lot of people on SDN and mdapplicants.com who got interview invites at schools that I wasn't even complete at yet...So, yes, some people will get interview invites in July/Aug for Aug/Sept.

However, this is not the case for all schools. It varies greatly. Some schools will wait until labor day to start looking at apps...

Some schools will review your application within a few days of receiving your secondary. Pritzker and Pittsburgh were in this category for me. Others may not get to your application for a few to several weeks. Submitting even in late July will still make you a pretty early applicant.

submitting early that doesn't mean that you will get an early interview invitation
