Earliest retake on Nov 1st...

So I asked about this earlier but no one really gave me a straight answer so I figured that i'd bring it up again since the contemplation is killing me.

I did pretty craptacular on my DAT (taken July 31st) and I know that I should retake it, but the problem is that my earliest retake will probably be Nov 1st which I think is way too late for this cycle.

Can someone give me some advice as to what I should do? Right now i'm hoping to get into schools like NYU, BU, Tufts and ASDOH... but its a huge gamble and the choices are driving me nuts!

If I do decide to retake, how should I inform all the schools? Email? Phone call? A part of me wants to just sit it out and hope for the best (since my app has been in since July 4th) but I don't know... i'm constantly second guessing myself especially with all these high scores on SDN 😳

Canadians take the Dat on Nov. 3 and they manage to get into many of the private american schools. So not only are they out of state, they are out of the country. 🙂 I plan to go to Tufts and only tufts and I'm writing my DAT on Sept. 2. Plus NYU, Tufts, and BU accept a lot of people from my school and they usually write the Canadian DAT in November. So no worrrries.

Oh ya,

Since your sent in your application, let them KNOW to hang on to your application because you are retaking the DAT and let them also know the date so you can fax your scores asap.

In my opinion, November is too late. School already selected most of their students already so you're relying on a very slim chance if u retake. If u already have yoru application ready, you might as well send in yoru dat to finish the process. Retake is a good idea for next cycle just in case. if you tell schools that you're retaking the DAT, they wont even look at yoru application until they recieve teh score, which will be at least a few weeks after your DAT in November.

I'm in the same boat. I have to retake because I got a 17 on Biology. I am retaking it on October 4th. I am calling the dental schools to let them know that I am retaking the DAT. My application was in the first batch and I immediately filled out my secondaries...

I'm thinking that I should just wait it out and hope for the best. I just hate the fact that there is a high probability for me to have to wait 2 years before going into dental school -_-
