I just finished sophomore year and have been accepted into my undergraduate school's medical school. It is an early admission program that gives me automatic acceptance when I graduate and I also don't have to take the mcat. I really don't want to have to take the mcat and would be perfectly happy at the school I was accpeted to but I also am not sure if I should take the test and apply to other schools because I could probably get into a higher ranked school. Do any med students feel like there is a correlation between a school's rank and how it is perceived in the medical community and would it be wise to try to get into the so-called best school possible? The school I am accpeted to now is top 50 or so research.

Well, I wouldn't concern myself with rank if I got accepted to med school in my sophmore year and didn't have to take the MCAT. A lot of people do all of this and still don't get accepted. If your medical school satisfies you, I wouldn't be concerned with all of the other stuff. You are avoiding a couple of potential obstacles to getting accepted to other schools such as MCAT scores.

I just haven't met anyone thus far complaining that they couldn't get to where they wanted to go because of the "U.S." school they went to( foreign schools, yes). Obtsacles are usually USMLE scores and grades. Keep those tight and you should be fine.

Thanks for the advice, I think i'm mostly concerned with wasting the chance of going to a higher ranked school if it will open more doors for me but it seems to me like the school I am going to will be fine and that grades in med school and scores are what really determines residency placement
