I am planning to apply to some schools that have early decision. Does it mean I have to apply through pharmcas (if required) or directly to schools in August in order to have my applications sent ontime in early september? (I am considering schools that do not require PCAT because I will be retaking the PCAT in both August and October).
Stats: 3.8 GPA, voluteering experiences, honor activities involved. PCAT super low.

If the school is a Pharmcas school, then you still apply through Pharmcas.

If that super low PCAT keeps you out of PharmCAS early admissions, then you can go for the regular admissions after you take another PCAT. Better to try than not to try at all.

I went PCATless ED at Oregon State, didn't get in, and then went regular admission to USC, Western, and Loma Linda (non-pharmCAS) and was accepted to USC. So not getting in ED with/without PCAT won't preclude you from acceptance somewhere else.

That's what I was trying to say as I suggested that he should apply to the PCAT-requiring ED schools even with that low ED. 🙂

Since Albany is a PharmCAS school, your application to Albany as well as all other PharmCAS schools will be done at the same time (except the school's supplement app). You'll only be allowed to add the other schools after Albany has given you a decision (Accept, Defer, Reject). If accepted, you won't need (or be able) to apply to any other PharmCAS school. Only if defered or rejected would you be able to add other PharmCAS schools to your application. The decision date for schools to notify ED students of acceptances/deferrals/rejections this year was 10/25/06, which was just before the earliest deadline for regular admission to some other schools (11/1/06). So you'll need to make sure you are filling out supplemental applications while you're waiting on word from Albany.

I applied to OSU ED and interviewed 10/13, was deferred 10/24, sent my supplementals out for Western and USC 10/26 and 10/29 and added through PharmCAS just before the deadlines. I was rejected by OSU 3/?? and accepted at USC afterwards.

I called Pharmcas today and asked about my Jan PCAT score. They said my PCAT score will not be appeared until I request PCAT registration to send it. Apparently, I will request after I take my August test. Does it mean I still have a chance for early decision application through Pharmcas, since the "test" section in Pharmcas application is still blank.

Apparently, I will request after I take my August test. It doesnt sound good. I believe the ED deadline is Sept 1, but decision deadline for ED programs is near the end of Oct. I'm thinking it won't give them enough time to receive the scores, but it really depends on the timing. If the test is early August, scores would probably be received mid-september. That may work. If the test is in late August, scores may not arrive til mid-Oct, making it unlikely that you'd have a complete appication by the time the decision deadline rolls around

I'm kind of in the same situation. I'm applying ED, but I don't take the PCAT until August. The thing is, the dean of admissions of the school suggested I apply ED (even after telling him that I still need to take the PCAT), so maybe that means it won't be too late. In any case, an August 25 PCAT SHOULD arrive by the first week of October. Key word: SHOULD. lol

That's if all goes well with sending the scores over. You should probably still submit your application without the PCAT score so everything else can get taken care of.

The fact that Pharmcas's pharmacy schools can't see my old PCAT score until I request delighted me alot. In a process that I am planning, I would turn in my Pharmcas application with lor in late July (still on time for ED), turn in my transcript in early August, which have my summer course and finally, the Aug PCAT score is supposed to arrive in Pharmcas' desks in early or mid October (according to wan2Bpharmd), which is still on time. Is it a good plan ?
I still need rush, though.
