I am thinking about applying early decision to a MD school. Does this mean I can't apply to any DO schools until I find out on October 1st, or does it only concern MD schools?
The application services are separate. I mean no harm with the following question... if you are applying EDP(MD) and DO are you sure your statistics will get you into EDP? Usually, only very, very strong applicants apply EDP.
This cannot be emphasized enough. Don't let the smaller applicant pool fool you; getting accepted via EDP is just as hard as, if not harder than, regular decision.
You guys arent answering his question, He's wondering if he applies early decision thru say AMCAS, is he able to still apply thru another application service like aacomas or the texas application.
I honestly dont know how to answer this one. Reason being, Im applying early decission to a school in the AMCAS, and Im from texas. So I was at first thinking if I should apply to some texas schools since they do use a separate application. But I dont think its worth it, if somehow the school im applying ED to finds out that I applied to other schools. Since the whole point of ED is to exclusively apply to one school.
And of note, the texas app does ask if your applying to any other schools not included in the texas app. The last thing i want to happen is my app being thrown out for not fully disclosing information or something. So yeah not much help but good luck

No they may not be answering it, but they are asking a very good question. What in the heck are you applying to DO schools for if you thought your application was strong enough to warrant an EDP application? I think the OP may be seriously confused about something here...
Out of curiosity, are you applying to a state schoool? I know that my state school uses EDP as a way to guarantee they fill their classes and you can get in with somewhat lower stats. That said I believe that you can apply DO if you have applied EDP to an MD school. Good luck.
Some schools encourage applicants to apply EDP because it guarantees a thorough looking over of the application without the automatic screen. Schools that do this can identify students who may not have the stats, but have supplemental experiences which make them an attractive applicant.
