There is a statement in dat destroyer that says "early earth had very little free oxygen, a condition that favored formation of life."

How is this true? Can anyone explain? Thanks!

Oxygen radicals are very reactive and could have easily torn apart a very primitive species. This is because the primitive species do not have a mechanism to breakdown harmful oxygen derivatives. That is my basic answer for this.

early earth had hydrogen sulphide, h2o, methane and co2. No oxygen it was a reducing atmosphere.
