Are there any dental students or dentists that use earplugs when practicing dentistry? If so, which brand of earplugs work best?

I have not used them in clinic (not there yet) but I do use them enough to know that you would have a very hard time talking with patients with them in. They would most definitely drown out the pitch of the drill though. Hope this helps 🙂

I am definitely interested in a product that would block out most of the drill noise, yet still let you be able to verbally communicate with people.
Earplugs are the obvious choice, but due to infection control it's not always the best choice and you will definitely go through them FAST everyday which is why I think most dentists don't use them.

Check out "earplanes" if you are looking for that. They are designed to have an noise reduction ratio (NRR) of only 20 decibels rather than the typical of 30+ (usually 33). This is aimed at allowing you to still speak to someone, but take the harshess out of some loud noises. There are also some NRR 22s I saw somewhere, but I can't remember where. Hope this helps 🙂
