Which are the easiest US MD schools one can get into?
Which schools take the most number of applicants and/or which has the least number of applicant apply?

I don't have a current MSAR laying around, but this would be a good question on which to test your looking-up and long division skills. Just take # of accepted and divide by # of applicants. Highest decimal value wins.

They might just be the best at discouraging unqualified applicants though.

Every school I've been to seemed to have fairly accessible doors. Some of the schools were a little confusing because you actually had to press a blue button with an oddly shaped guy sitting in a wheelchair to get into the medical school. Other than that, i think every medical school is fairly easy to get into.

I'm going to guess there will be 68 more sarcastic comments before 5pm.

Newer ones are probably easier to get out of though. Updated fire codes and all.
 
Why all the sarcasm? I loves me some sarcasm too, but i'd like to get to it after somebody posts the schools with the highest acceptance rates.
 
NONE of them are that high, is the point. its hard no matter where you apply.

There is no one with highest acceptance rates so to speak. This question is just a stupid one and a waste of time. Most of the "safety schools" get like 9000 or more apps so its not "easy" persay. also the schools with low numbers of apps are typically state schools that will ONLY take in state residents so its a waste of time to apply for the most part. There is no school that gets low application numbers and accepts sub-par statistical students from all around the US.

There's sarcasm because it's a stupid question. The answer is obviously some state school and if you don't have residency it won't matter anyway. Who cares what state school is the easiest to get into.

It's not a stupid question. Sure he could look it up, but why do that if you can get an answer on here much easier, with no work? It doesn't have to be one school, give him the top 20. Also, you have no idea what state he's a resident of so you have no idea whether it would benefit him.

I don't think he asked which ones accept sub-par statistical students, just which ones have the highest acceptance rates. And yes, there are schools with higher acceptance rates than others.

This site just seems to quick to jump people's ****. Most people are on here for the first time, or are oblivious to the "standard" amount of pre-med knowledge required on this site.
 
US news has that info readily available. They give % admitted if you buy the online thing (and I imagine the print version).

Sure, some schools with high % admitted may have certain requirements (in-state only, etc.), but there is a school with the highest % admitted and there is a school with the lowest % admitted. Not taking into account all factors is foolish, but looking from an absolute point of view the question asked has an answer.

My guess would be a state school that only accepts IS applicants for the highest % admitted and Mayo for the lowest % admitted.

Actually, it was a very stupid question. He didn't say, hey I'm a resident of this state, and I don't have the MSAR, could someone tell me that stats of my state school. Conversely, he didn't say, hey I have low numbers, what are some schools I should apply to. He simply asked what is the easiest, out of all medical schools, to get into. This is a very stupid question.

Had the OP of said, "hey, I have average stats, and I'm from this state, what are some schools I should look into applying," I would have said the following:

Well OP, who didn't ask a stupid question, you will have the best luck at your state school. After this, I would apply to a ton of private schools that have stats close to yours. These private schools are extremely hard to get into, but by increasing the number of schools that you do apply to, you will increase your chance of getting an interview invite.

Also, OP, if you enjoy killing prostitutes after a rough night of doubling down and shooting dice, there is one school in the Northeast that will look favorably toward you as well.

From an absolute point of view, you're right, there's an answer. But there really isn't much you can use the answer for. That's why everyone's been sarcastic (and why the OP's thread is quite stupid w/o knowing his/her state of residence).

For example, Harvard has a 4% acceptance rate, and George Washington has a 2.9% acceptance rate according to the 2009 US news data. That would mean that it's harder to get into George Washington (which is obviously not true). And no, the data isn't off because it depends on if you're a resident or not (they're both private).

Some people like myself know they have no chance of getting into Harvard so they won't bother applying. On the other hand, everyone and their mother applies to George Washington, which is why their acceptance rate is so low. This whole methodology is flawed from the start.

University of Maryland's were pretty heavy. And some of them were locked while others were not. Very odd.
 
I thought Drexel was easy to get into....I was interviewed and subsequently rejected :laugh:
 
Must be tough being an adcom at GW and choose who to interview and who not to.

Which US news edition are you looking at? I'm looking at Arizona on the 2009 version, and it says 24.8%... for North Dakota it says 27.4%...

but yeah, there are some of them that are pretty high...

Umass has a 24% acceptance rate, and Arkansas has 25%... All these schools are extremely hard to get into though...
 
You can't just look at acceptance rates though. Make sure you take into account the way each medical school treats OOS applicants. For instance, state schools like Mississippi and Arkansas have high acceptance rates for IS students. This is irrelevant for OOS students.
 
There is an excel spreadsheet with a lot of MSAR percentages. I think it's called school selector. You should search for it OP.

(First Question) The one where you have a close relative who is currently the Dean of Admissions.

(Second Question) Moot Point if your related to the Dean.

Who gives a ****, he simply asked what the easiest schools to get into are. Just get off your high horse and answer the question. ****in premeds over-analyze EVERYthing. It's a simple question, if you know where the information is, then just post it. Simple as that. No reason to bust his balls about it.

That's the problem... it's not just a simple question that someone can just throw out an answer to. What's subjectively going to be easier acceptance acceptance for one person may not by the same for another for a whole host of reasons.

Yea, they can go to AAMC and find certain data like the number of applications a school received and such, but in and of itself it's not going to be practical to base ease of acceptance just off a few of those numbers.

I think it's a pretty simple question. In general the easiest school to get into is a state school with high acceptance rates and low MCAT/GPA averages. Sure you'd have to move to that state and establish residency in the state, but that doesn't make the school any harder to get into.

I'm with NoMoreAMCAS: you guys need to stop freaking out and running around talking about how every school is hard and how the process is complex and schools look at this and that and acceptance rates doesn't equal to this and that. Dude, we know the process is complex and difficult, but the question is simple.

Answer the question to the best of your ability, and if you can't, don't. Stop running around telling us how complex the question is while not offering answers.

I've actually never bought US News or that AAMC book and I probably never will. I really just googled online and that website link I posted showed up. I'm sure the numbers are inaccurate and outdated.

Luckily, the results are similar: moving to Arizona is still the best.

Inaccurate and outdated, maybe. Meaningless, definitely, unless you think that Chicago Medical School is harder to get into than Harvard.
