easiest schools to get into?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
main reason is that these schools are too expensive and not everyone wants to apply there right?

Well alot of people apply, but it probably has more to do with the fact that the big city schools generally have bigger classes. And yes they are the "easiest" to get into mostly because even people who do get accepted often decline because of their ridiculous tuition/living expenses.

NYU, BU, Tufts... slightly harder is NOVA

How can you state Tufts is easy? They receive over 4500 applicants, interview less than 500... BU has a new recommendation for 20 DAT- not average.

your state school minus California or NYU

NYU is not a state school. Also, Stony Brook is one of the hardest schools in the country to get into whether you are in-state or out of state, and it IS a state school.

nyu has 200 students with an average dat of 20. 20 is pretty impressive...

over 1/3 of the applicants apply there. Nova had 4000, Tufts had 4500 (as mentioned above and NYU consistantly has over 4000. Some people will turn them down to cost, some have no other choice, some love the school so much they will pay the price tag or have military and finally, some have rich families.

Get the ADEA dental book, it has all the stats and you will save some cash in the long run.

stony brook sucks. i went there for undergrad and i found their administration to be the worst ever.

they released 90,000 social security numbers of students, alumni, facility by accident a few summers ago. they never did anything to help us, like paying to monitor our credit.

Relax, I wasn't questioning their ethics, helpfulness, or even their cooking ability. I was simply stating that the idea of state schools being less competitive than others is simply not the case.

you relax, i just wanted to say that.

Fair enough... Your response had Zero relevance to the OP's question or to anything that was said in the thread. Start a new thread with that as the heading if you "just wanted to say that."

true...but I said it already, so I don't need to start a new thread anymore. should i?

He asks what the "easier" schools to get into are based on his average stats. Tufts averages are 3.4/19 and they take 160 students. If his stats are "average", he'll have an easier time getting in Tufts than Harvard/Penn/Columbia/Maryland, etc. The 4500 number has a lot of people who have no chance at any school, but apply to tufts and NYU because they have the lowest averages (minus historically black schools and random state schools that don't take non residents). That number is just inflated with "no chance" applicants. But if you are an average applicant.. it is easier.

if someone is accepted with below avg stats, that person has something else that stands out amongst all other applicants

there is no such thing as an easy dental school. period.

Harvard has specifics, they reject outstanding applicants constantly but have students with 18 DAT. Maryland is a state school. Penn and Columbia love diversity. Look at Creighton's average stats, with less applicants. Schools want a certain aspect in their students for their own reasons.

You can say that again!

However, I didn't realized it until I had several interviews.

I don't think there are any easy schools to get in to. I've applied for two years without any luck and I have decent scores. Unless you have amazing GPA and DAT scores, there is no sure thing at ANY school. With the huge number of qualified applicants, there is a lot of luck involved. The whole thing seems like a crap shoot half the time.

Good luck!

Based on the 08 entering class stats,Howard, Meharry, BU, Temple, USC, Tufts, and Midwestern were in the bottom twenty.

As everyone just assumes that NYU is an easy school to get in, it actually ranked 11th.

For Alekshura2, the numbers are just a portion of your whole application. I hope this helped.

And yes, I am excited going to NYU 😉

This is such a joke though, numbers are numbers I know people who didnt get into any of those schools but got into better schools.

No school is easy, if it was I would already be in dental school and nobody on here would worry at all because we would all have a backup

I totally agree with you. That is why I mentioned that numbers are just a portion of the whole application package. Since the OP wanted to know the numbers, I presented the actual facts instead of some arbitrary thoughts.
And I wanted to show some love to NYU😍

WVU is the hardest...... unless you went to WVU and are West Virginian...then it's easy

stats don't lie

check out predents as well to get a breakdown.

Then, theoretically, your best shot is your state school, obviously, in most cases. So what is the debate about. Minnesota has 1000-1100 applicants for 97 spots. Sweet!

Some schools may attract you as they show lower gpa/dat statistics.
But becareful.

Not all the schools will interview you because you have the stats.
There are things that go along with it like EC, PS, LOR, etc.
They do matter.
Also, believe it or not, you need some lucks.
I have a friend that got rejected from CASE because he had a cGPA lower than 3.6ish when he applied in May.
A post from SDN showed that a student got into CASE with 3.3 because he appplied later in the cycle and maybe some schools are desperate (not the right wording but you know what im trying to say) to fill their class in.

But for your part, I think as long as you prepare well enough with a little passion, I think anyone could get into a dental school/med school/ law school anywhere I believe.
Now don't come with a 2.5GPA and be wanting it, because ... you know

Stop fighting over who's school is better than others based on DAT/GPA scores.
Since NYU was mentioned, their DAT average is high but also consider their GPA being not as high as other schools
Schools have different methods (although same in general) of choosing prospective students.
