Dear Forum members,
I started to read this forum when I wanted to apply into ophthalmology. I matched into ophtho this year in a program in the midwest. However, life can never be so simple. I just got engaged to someone in NYC who is unable to move/transfer. I really would like to start training in a ophtho program in the east coast. As an alternate, I was thinking of dropping my ophtho spot and switching into an internal medicine opening. I could see my self doing ophtho but I'm not sure if its worth the separation and unhappiness for the next four years. I would greatly appreciate any advice from you residents and forum members.
